Turkey:
Ferhat Tunç appeared in court

The case was not settled, but adjourned to 31 May 2006

The trial of artist Ferhat Tunç for an article, “A Revolutionary Leyla And A Song”, which he wrote in Özgür Gündem newspaper, continued on 28 December 2005 at 10:00 at the Beyoğlu 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance in Turkey. Ferhat Tunç is charged with “insulting the judiciary organs through press” under former article 159 (new 301) of TPC.  Tunç had 30 defendants at the court, and the case was adjourned to 31 May 2006, at 10:00 am.

Since the beginning of December, Freemuse has been running an international solidarity campaign for Ferhat Tunç. Freemuse members have sent a letter to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressing their concern, and they also asked for the prosecution of Tunç to be dropped.
