Music stores bombed in Baquba

Three stores selling music CDs in southern Baquba were bombed on Sunday 2 April 2006, according to an Iraqi official
Unidentified gunmen also planted explosives around a small Guba Shiite mosque in Baquba and blew it up, according to the Baquba Police Col. Adnan Lafta. CNN recorded the statement about the music shops from an Iraqi official with the Diyala Joint Coordination Center. However, CNN also states that U.S. military personnel visited the site and said there had been no bombing.
Baquba is situated 60 kilometres north of Baghdad.
Reuters reports that a civilian was killed on Saturday April 1 when a bomb exploded in front of a music shop in Tikrit, 175 kilometres north of Baghdad.
Also, one month earlier, on 4 March 2006, an official with the Diyala Joint Coordination Center told CNN that a bomb exploded in front of a music store in downtown Baquba, killing a girl and wounding eight other civilians.
The killings and attacks are believed to be used by sectarian and insurgent groups to foment strife between Iraq's minority Sunni Arabs and majority Shiite Muslims, and push the country toward civil war.
