KAMILYA JUBRAN

(Israel / Palestine)

Kamilya Jubran is born in Akka in Israel to Palestinian parents who are from a northern Palestinian village in Al-Jaleel.
From 1982 to 2002, Kamilya was lead song performer of the orchestra Sabreen which was a voice of resistance for the Palestinians.
In 2002 she began touring with her solo show.

In this interview Kamilya Jubran speaks about how her ability to move freely and the distribution of her music is being restricted because of the political situation in the area. The interview was recorded when Kamilya Jubran gave two concerts in Copenhagen in September 2006 together with the Swiss musician Werner Hasler who is part of the interview as well.
