MUSIC FREEDOM DAY 2010
05 March 2010

Music Freedom Day in The Hague,
city of international law

The organisation Music Force marked Music Freedom Day in the Netherlands on 3 March 2010.

Among the supporters of the Music Freedom Day events in The Hague was the city's municipality, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Fonds 1818.

The programme on 3 and 4 March 2010 consisted of a musical programme in Het Paard van Troje, and a discussion along with a film screening at Filmhuis Den Haag.

Organised by MusicForce in collaboration with Freemuse the opening concert on 3 March featured Dutch rapper Brainpower and the Iranian band Take It Easy Hospital, who are also the main characters of the road movie `No One Knows About Persian Cats´

The events were opened by Dutch Human Rights Ambassador, Mr. Arjan Hamburger, who strongly defended the rights to freedom of musical expression and talked about the important role that musicians can play.

Directed by Bahman Ghobadi the film about Tehran’s underground musicscene, `No one knows about Persian casts’ is featured in the forthcoming Human Rights Watch film festival, which opens in London on 17 March 2010.
